پاسخ نماینده مجلس فدرال به نگرانی‌های ایرانیان درباره جنگ، پناهندگی و اینترنت
دیدار نماینده فدرال، دکتر کارینا گارلند، با انجمن زنان ایرانی و برخی از پناهجویان تبدیل به فرصتی شد برای طرح شفاف مسائل جدی؛ از خطر دیپورت پناهجویان تا خواست حمایت جهانی از مردم ایران.

در ادامه تلاش‌های جامعه ایرانی برای رساندن صدای مردم ایران به گوش مسئولان استرالیایی، روز گذشته جلسه‌ای با حضور دکتر کارینا گارلند، نماینده فدرال منطقه چیشلم، برگزار شد. این دیدار که با ابتکار انجمن زنان ایرانی شکل گرفت، فرصتی برای طرح دغدغه‌های ایرانیان ساکن استرالیا فراهم کرد؛ از جمله درباره بحران انسانی در ایران، روند پناهندگی، و موضوع دسترسی آزاد به اینترنت.
دکتر گارلند که خود از ساکنان مناطق شرقی ملبورن است و در مه ۲۰۲۲ به پارلمان فدرال راه یافته، در ابتدای جلسه با تأکید بر اهمیت چندفرهنگی‌بودن حوزه انتخابیه‌اش گفت:
«افتخار می‌کنم که نماینده جامعه‌ای پویـا و چندفرهنگی هستم و با تمام وجود برای سلامت، آموزش، اشتغال و آینده بهتر تلاش می‌کنم.»
در بخش اصلی جلسه، یکی از مهم‌ترین پرسش‌ها درباره اقدامات دولت استرالیا در قبال مردم ایران در شرایط جنگی بود. دکتر گارلند ضمن ابراز تأسف عمیق از وضعیت پیش‌آمده گفت:
«می‌دانم که مردم ایران با شرایط بسیار دشواری روبرو هستند. ما در چارچوب هماهنگی با شرکای بین‌المللی خود در حال بررسی راه‌هایی هستیم که کمک‌های لازم را به مردم ایران ارائه دهیم. اما متأسفانه به دلیل بسته‌بودن مرزها و محدودیت‌های پروازی، ارائه مستقیم خدمات در داخل ایران کار ساده‌ای نیست.»
در ادامه، موضوع پناهجویان ایرانی در استرالیا مطرح شد. یکی از حاضران با اشاره به خطر جانی برای افرادی که ممکن است به ایران بازگردانده شوند، خواستار تسریع در روند رسیدگی به پرونده‌های پناهندگی شد.
نماینده مجلس در پاسخ تأکید کرد:
«این نگرانی را کاملاً درک می‌کنم. اولویت‌دادن به درخواست‌های پناهندگی، به‌ویژه در مواردی که جان افراد در خطر است، در حال پیگیری است و ما تلاش می‌کنیم سیستم پذیرش پناهندگان، پاسخ‌گو و سریع‌تر عمل کند.»
در بخش دیگری از جلسه، یکی از شرکت‌کنندگان به وضعیت پناهجویانی اشاره کرد که بیش از ۱۲ سال است بلاتکلیف در استرالیا زندگی می‌کنند و خواستار اقدام جدی دولت برای اعطای اقامت دائم به این افراد شد.
دکتر گارلند در پاسخ به این موضوع قول داد:
«این مسئله را با وزیر مهاجرت در میان خواهم گذاشت تا راهکارهایی برای رسیدگی سریع‌تر و انسانی‌تر به وضعیت این افراد بررسی شود.»
از دیگر دغدغه‌های مهم جلسه، مسئله محدودیت اینترنت در ایران بود. شرکت‌کنندگان از خانم گارلند خواستند که این موضوع را در سطح دولت فدرال پیگیری کند و در همکاری با کشورهای متحد، امکان دسترسی مردم ایران به اینترنت آزاد را فراهم سازند.
او در پاسخ گفت:
«این موضوع بسیار مهمی‌ست. من آن را با وزیر امور خارجه مطرح خواهم کرد تا بررسی شود که در چارچوب همکاری با شرکای بین‌المللی، چه اقداماتی می‌توان برای کمک به مردم ایران در زمینه ارتباطات و دسترسی آزاد به اطلاعات انجام داد.»
در پایان جلسه، نماینده فدرال بار دیگر بر تعهد خود نسبت به جامعه ایرانی تأکید کرد و گفت:
«من این مسئولیت را بسیار جدی می‌گیرم و همواره آماده گفت‌وگو با جامعه ایرانی هستم. اگر در جامعه من هستید، لطفاً جلو بیایید، صحبت کنیم، و اجازه دهید صدایتان را بهتر بشنوم.»

Federal MP Responds to Iranian Community’s Concerns on War, Refugees, and Internet Access
The recent meeting between Dr. Carina Garland, Federal Member for Chisholm, and members of the Iranian Women’s Association provided an opportunity to raise serious concerns — from the risk of deportation of Iranian asylum seekers to calls for global support for the people of Iran.

As part of the broader efforts by the Iranian community to bring the voices of the Iranian people to Australian officials, a meeting was held yesterday with Dr. Carina Garland, Federal MP for Chisholm. Initiated by the Iranian Women’s Association, the event created space to discuss key issues including the humanitarian crisis in Iran, refugee processing in Australia, and access to uncensored internet.
Dr. Garland, who grew up in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs and entered Parliament in May 2022, began the meeting by highlighting the cultural diversity of her electorate and stated:
“I am proud to represent a vibrant and multicultural community, and I’m fully committed to working for better healthcare, education, jobs, and a brighter future for all.”
A key concern raised was the Australian government’s response to the ongoing war and humanitarian situation in Iran. Dr. Garland expressed her deep regret over the unfolding crisis and said:
“I understand how difficult things are for the people of Iran. We are working with Australia’s international partners to explore ways to provide necessary assistance. However, with borders closed and flight restrictions in place, delivering support inside Iran remains highly challenging.”
The discussion then turned to the situation of Iranian asylum seekers in Australia. A participant pointed out the danger faced by individuals who risk deportation to Iran and called for the asylum process to be expedited.
Dr. Garland responded:
“This concern is entirely valid. Prioritising asylum applications, especially for those whose lives are at risk, is under active consideration. We are working to ensure the refugee processing system becomes more responsive and efficient.”
One attendee also highlighted the issue of long-term unresolved refugee cases, referring to individuals who have lived in Australia for over 12 years without permanent residency. The MP replied:
“I will raise this matter with the Minister for Immigration to explore more humane and timely solutions for these individuals.”
Another major concern was the internet blackout in Iran. Participants requested that the Australian government explore options, in coordination with international allies, to help provide Iranian citizens with access to free and open internet.
Dr. Garland acknowledged the issue, stating:
“This is an important matter. I will speak to the Foreign Minister to see what actions can be taken, in collaboration with Australia’s international partners, to support open communication and access to information for people in Iran.”
At the end of the session, Dr. Garland reaffirmed her commitment to the Iranian community and added:
“I take my role as your representative very seriously and am always open to dialogue. If you see me in the community, please come and say hello — I want to hear your voice.”
