استرالیا به مشارکت جدی خود در ائتلاف بین المللی علیه گروه تروریستی داعش ادامه می دهد. در تاریخ 27 آذر، دریابان دیوید جانستون، فرمانده عملیات مشترک در نیروی دفاعی استرالیا، جزئیات عملیات هواپیماهای جنگنده استرالیا در عراق علیه داعش را بیان نمود، عملیاتی که بیش از 420 موضع دفاعی داعش را نابود ساخت.
دریابان جانستون روند آموزش نیروهای عراقی را خوب ارزیابی کرد و خاطرنشان نمود "نیروی عملیات ویژه استرالیا تاکنون بیش از 830 نیروی عملیات ویژه عراقی را با انواع مهارت های رزمی آموزش داده است."

Australia continues its strong contribution to the international coalition against the ISIL terrorist group. On 18 December, the Chief of Joint Operations in the Australian Defence Force Vice-Admiral David Johnston gave details of strike missions by Australian warplanes against ISIS fighters in Iraq, resulting in the destruction of more than 420 defensive fighting positions.
Vice-Admiral Johnston also said the Australian mission to train Iraqi forces was progressing well. He noted that "Our special operations group has now qualified more than 830 Iraqi special operation force soldiers in a range of combat skills," he said.
